Bio. Porto Photographer Kristina Brazhnikova

Hi, I’m Kristina!

I was born in 1988 in Voronezh, Russia. Photography has been a big part of my life for many years. I started working as a commercial photographer back in 2010, and a few years later I moved into photojournalism, working for a regional newspaper and collaborating with different media in Russia and abroad.

I studied photography in Saint Petersburg, where I took part in several long-term courses and summer schools focused on documentary photography and visual storytelling. These years shaped the way I see the world and taught me how to notice real moments, emotions, and small details that often matter the most.

From 2016 I worked as a freelance photojournalist, and my work was published in Russian and international media. I also took part in various photography contests and festivals, had two personal and many group exhibitions and became a winner of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest.

At the end of 2021, I took a short pause in my career when my son was born. In 2023, our family moved to Porto, Portugal, and I returned to photography — this time with a new focus on family photography.

Today I mostly work with families in Porto, but I’m happy to travel to other cities in the north of Portugal, like Espinho, Braga, or Aveiro. I love turning everyday moments into memories you’ll want to come back to again and again. You can see my portfolio on my website: photofromporto.com.

My background in photojournalism helps me work quickly and naturally, so you can just enjoy your time together while I quietly capture your story.
